Should I Try Smile Direct Club?
Our last blog focused on how Clear Braces use a series of invisible acrylic aligners to correct misalignment, providing an alternative to metal braces. To offer our Kansas City, MO, patients an affordable option for addressing poor alignment, our team may suggest Smile Direct Club!
The Smile Direct Club Process
You first need to schedule an appointment so we can assess the cause and extent of your poor alignment. If we believe clear aligners are your best option, we will take a series of digital images and impressions, no need for biting down on molds filled with sticky materials. We can also create a computer-generated image of what your smile could look like following treatment. The images and impression we gather will be sent to Smile Direct Club, who will then create a series of aligners from a clear acrylic material. They will then send them to you, and instructions on proper use. Every now and then, we will examine your smile to ensure the treatment process happening as it should, and that you are on your way toward a better smile! For many, this is a more affordable and convenient solution to misalignment.
Treatment With Clear Aligners
What does treatment involve? Well, each day you will wear a set of your aligners for between 20 and 22 hours. After about two weeks, provided you wore them as instructed, you will then upgrade to the next set in the series. Over time, these orthodontics will begin to reposition the teeth to correct misalignment. You can remove them before meals and prior to brushing and flossing, which makes everything from eating to proper oral hygiene a much easier task than if you were wearing metal braces. However, to see optimal results in the original time frame discussed with our office and Smile Direct Club, you need to wear them for the prescribed time without exception. You can remove them for special occasions, meals, or for oral maintenance, but you still need to meet your 20 to 22 hours a day.
Oral Health Benefits
Correcting misalignment helps reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, protecting your smile or serious complications, including adult tooth loss. You also reduce the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding) by correcting bite balance and avoiding jaw joint strain. Finally, you will feel better about your smile’s appearance, and this could offer a huge boost to your self-confidence.If you have any questions about this process, then contact our team today.
