Preparing Your Smile

The Extraction Process
We will open the gums and then with forceps gently remove the third molars. We next suture the area closed. As the sedation takes time to wear off, you will need a friend or family member to bring you home. We will offer detailed instructions for brushing, flossing, eating, and drinking in the hours and days to follow. We will also schedule visits to monitor your healing process and eventually remove the sutures. For situations in which we remove teeth due to infection, injury, or gum disease, we may place a filling material into the extraction site to preserve the area for future tooth replacement using dental implants.
