Emergency Preparedness Expo

This weekend at the Overland Park Convention Center is the 2017 Game Plan Emergency Preparedness Expo, which will focus on preparing you and your family for natural disasters and other emergencies. Unfortunately, the past few months have seen terrible disasters around the world. While you cannot be prepared for anything, the event is focused on preparing communities and individuals for disasters like tornado, fire, flood, blackouts, to personal issues like home security, child safety, emergency plans for pets, vehicle safety, internet security, and identity theft prevention. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has an initiative called Weather-Ready Nation (WRN), and the Game Plan Expo is a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. As an ambassador, they partner with WRN in their goals to unify efforts across governments, non-profit organizations, academia, and private industry in making the nation more ready, responsive, and resilient against extreme environmental hazards. The Expo features fun events for children, a blood drive, and expert speakers and booths. There will also be hourly giveaways, vehicle tours, and plenty of informational panels.
