Original River Market Food Tour
The River Market Food Tours are guided tours that lead guests to three to four tasting locations in River Market. The River Market area has had several different names over the last 150 or so years. These names have included Westport Landing, River Quay, Gully Town and Town of Kansas, and the city was nearly called Rabbitville. The River Market neighborhood lies between Broadway Bridge and the Heart of America Bridge and north of the I-70 downtown loop. The food tours include only established owned locally. Combined, the tasting samples will equal a full lunch. The food tour totals about a one-mile walk and lasts between two and three hours. Comfortable clothing and footwear is suggested for the walk. Not only will the tour include tastings at the locations, but you will get to hear stories about the location, the food, and the history. What a great way to hear tales of the Wild West and some unique history of Kansas City, all while trying some delicious local food. The cost of the tour includes the cost of the food, gratuities for the restaurant staff, and tax. Gratuities for the tour guide are not included in the ticket cost.
