Complete care for every age

Our name says cosmetic and implant, and that is where the practice built its reputation. What surprises a lot of new patients is that we are also a full general dentistry practice, and always have been. The everyday work is the foundation everything else sits on. You cannot build a beautiful smile on teeth that have not been cleaned, examined and cared for consistently.

So this is the plain version. We handle your six month exams and cleanings. We fill cavities. We treat gum disease. We make mouthguards, we treat jaw pain, and we see your kids. If something bigger comes up later, you are already in a practice that can handle it without sending you across town.

Dr. David A. Jackson, DDS, FAGD leads that care. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and completed a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, which trained him in comprehensive treatment planning and digital dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. In practice that means your general dentist is someone who plans your whole mouth, not one tooth at a time.

Whether you are looking for a new everyday dentist downtown or you have not been seen in a few years and want to get caught up without a lecture, this is a good place to start.

General dentistry services in downtown Kansas City

The everyday care that keeps small problems from becoming expensive ones.

Routine exams

An exam is the cheapest dentistry you will ever pay for. We check your teeth, gums, bite and jaw, and take images so we can see what is happening below the surface. Catching a small cavity now means a filling instead of a crown or a root canal later.

Professional cleanings

Brushing and flossing handle most of the job, but tartar hardens where a toothbrush cannot reach and only a hygienist can remove it. Think of it like an oil change. Skipping it does not save you money, it just moves the bill down the road and makes it bigger.

Tooth-colored fillings

When decay shows up, we repair the tooth with composite that matches your natural shade instead of dark metal. Composite bonds directly to the tooth, so we remove less healthy structure to place it. Most fillings are done in one visit.

Gum and periodontal care

Bleeding when you brush is not normal, and it is the earliest warning sign of gum disease. Caught early it is reversible. Left alone it destroys the bone holding your teeth in place, and that damage does not come back. We check gum health at every visit and treat it directly.

Custom mouthguards

Grinding at night quietly wears down enamel and leaves you waking with a sore jaw. A custom guard absorbs that force instead of your molars. For athletes, a custom-fit sport guard protects teeth far better than a boil-and-bite version from the drugstore.

TMJ pain treatment

Jaw pain, clicking, headaches that start at the temples, or difficulty opening fully can all trace back to the joint and the muscles around it. It is often treatable without surgery once we work out what is driving it, and treatment frequently starts with your bite.

Children's dentistry

Kids do best when their first visits are short, calm and free of surprises. We focus on comfort, prevention and building habits early, so the dentist becomes a routine part of life instead of something to dread.

Repairing damaged teeth

Crowns, root canal treatment, extractions, bridges and dentures all live under restorative care. If a tooth is cracked, painful or too far gone for a filling, this is where it gets handled.

Replacing missing teeth

Implants replace a missing tooth root and all, so the neighboring teeth stay put and the jawbone keeps its shape. Implant dentistry is a core strength of this practice, both the surgical and the restorative side.

What your first visit looks like

New-patient appointments make people nervous mostly because they do not know what is coming. Here is the whole thing, so there are no surprises.

  1. Forms and a phone call first

We are a phone-first office, so your first contact is with a person, not a form. Our team will confirm your insurance, answer cost questions up front, and send your patient forms ahead of time so you are not filling out a clipboard in the waiting room.

  2. Images and a full exam

We take the X-rays needed to see below the surface, then examine your teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints. Digital imaging keeps this quick and keeps exposure low.

  3. Your cleaning

If your gums are healthy, your hygiene visit usually happens the same day. If we find active gum disease, we will explain what we found and plan the right treatment instead of rushing a standard cleaning that would not address it.

  4. A plan in plain language

We show you the images, explain what we found, and separate what needs attention now from what can wait. You get the cost picture before anything is scheduled. Our patients tell us they never feel rushed or pressured, and that is deliberate.

Comfort is not an afterthought here

Plenty of people put off the dentist for years because of a bad experience somewhere else. Our investment in technology and amenities exists for exactly those patients. Headphones with your choice of music and massage chairs are part of a standard visit, not an upsell.

Tell us at the start if you are anxious. We will slow down, explain each step, and stop whenever you need a break. Most patients who had been avoiding the dentist get fully caught up in a couple of comfortable appointments.

Already a cosmetic patient?

Nothing changes. Your general care and your cosmetic care happen in the same chair with the same team, which is how we keep your treatment planned as a whole rather than in pieces.

Common questions from new patients

Are you accepting new patients in Kansas City?

Yes. We are accepting new patients of all ages at our downtown Kansas City office. Call (816) 897-4288 and our front desk will get your first exam and cleaning scheduled. If you have records or recent X-rays from a previous dentist, let us know and we can request them so you do not repeat imaging you have already had.

Do you take my insurance, and what if I do not have any?

We accept dental insurance and our team will verify your benefits before your visit so you know your coverage ahead of time. If you do not have insurance, our in-house Smile Club is a discount program that makes care more affordable, including cosmetic treatment. We have also partnered with Cherry for payment plans, and we offer a loyalty program and patient specials.

Do you see children and families?

Yes. We provide children's dentistry alongside adult care, so families can be seen at the same practice rather than splitting appointments between offices. Early visits are short and focused on getting a child comfortable in the chair and building good habits before problems appear.

How often should I get a cleaning and exam?

Every six months works for most patients. If you have a history of gum disease, frequent decay, or certain medical conditions, we may recommend a three or four month interval so problems get caught earlier. We will tell you which schedule fits you rather than applying the same one to everyone.

Where are you located and is parking available?

We are at 2101 Charlotte St #330 in downtown Kansas City, in the Hospital Hill area just south of the Crossroads. Call the office at (816) 897-4288 before your first visit and our team will walk you through exactly where to park and how to find suite 330.

How do I book my first appointment?

Call (816) 897-4288. We are a phone-first office, which means you talk to a real person who can answer questions about insurance, timing, and what your first visit will involve. You can also reach us through the contact page on our site and we will call you back.
