Things to Do This Week
- This year’s Sound of Speed Airshow is this weekend, August 25th and 26th at Rosecrans Memorial Airport in St. Joseph, MO. The show features dozens of air performances along with activities on the ground, too! The ground activities include displays of aircraft and special exhibits. There will also be souvenir and concession stands. For fans of the show M*A*S*H, there will be helicopter rides in a helicopter similar to the medical one on that show!

- Babe Ruth’s Baseball Classic is also on this Saturday, August 25th in Shawnee, KS. This is the second year of this annual “baseball” game done in the 1920’s vintage style. It will be played at Herman Laird Park with volunteer players from the Kansas City Men’s Senior Baseball League that will play as the historical teams, the Kansas City Blues, and the Minneapolis Millers. There will be concessions available from the Shawnee Mission Optimists. There will also be a beer tent open for those old enough to drink provided by the Irish American Club of Johnson County.
