Fun This Weekend
- On Sunday, September 16th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., join the American Indian Cultural Celebration at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The performances and activities are free and open to the public. There will be a few live dance performances, some of which will be performed by students from Haskell Indian Nations University, a university with more than 150 nations are represented. Along with the several dance performances, there will also be storytelling events and live music. The museum food courts will feature American Indian inspired menu items. Inside of the museum, there will be hands-on arts activities and displays of beading and loom work.
- On Saturday, September 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy Library in the Park. The Kansas City Public Library is hosting this year’s event at Big Eleven Lake Park. Local author, Derrick Barnes, will be signing copies of critically acclaimed picture book CROWN: An Ode to the Fresh Cut; free signed copies will be given out to attendees of the event. Along with a mobile library, there will also be giant bubbles, a photo booth, live music, and a taco competition!
