Creating Veneers to Transform Smiles

May 13, 2019

Did you know that a single cosmetic treatment may address everything from misshapen teeth to permanent discoloration? When we create and place veneers, we offer our Kansas City, MO, patients a complete smile transformation. What cosmetic issues will your veneers address? How do we design and create custom-made restorations?

Veneers

How Do You Create a Veneer?

Each one will be custom-made, which ensures a good, comfortable fit and accurate smile improvement. First, we will examine your smile and assess the cause and severity of your cosmetic concerns. We then decide if you need these unique restorations. If so, we remove a thin layer of enamel before taking detailed impressions of the teeth. You return home, and we begin designing and creating the veneers employing the detailed impressions and images we gathered. We will create them using porcelain, a strong material with the ability to absorb serious bite forces. The material is also stain-resistant, and mimics the translucent nature of tooth enamel. We also have the ability to shade them to better match your smile’s appearance.

How Do We Place and Maintain Them?

When you return for your next visit, we will check the fit and if necessary, make final adjustments to the restorations. We then place them with a powerful bonding agent, which holds them in place. Routine care will then be needed to keep them bright and or protect them from the onset of tooth decay, infection, or gum disease. You should brush them, along with the rest of your smile, twice a day. We also suggest flossing before bed every night, and cutting back on sugary foods and drinks. Finally, be sure you see us twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. These actions help keep your entire smile whole and healthy.

What Smile Issues Will They Fix?

Since they cover the front and sides of the teeth, we may use them to address a wide array of common esthetic issues. Placement helps mask permanent teeth stains, the kind of discoloration that may not be removed easily with teeth whitening. We also close embarrassing gaps between the teeth, or correct misshapen teeth. They help repair minor chips and cracks, and also correct the appearance of minor misalignment, providing an alternative for braces for some patients. If you have any questions or concerns about our esthetic treatment options, or if you’re ready to receive a consultation and talk about your treatment options, then contact our team today.
