Dental Bonding

With this treatment option, we can often correct a number of esthetic issues in just one visit. The procedure actually uses the same material we employ with our metal-free dental fillings. Composite resin is a unique blend of acrylic and glass particles, a blend that can be shaded to match the color of your surrounding teeth. We start by removing any decay and then thoroughly cleaning the tooth. We often etch the surfaces as well. We next prepare and place the material onto the tooth in several layers, sculpting and molding the structure as we cure the tooth under a light. Once the material hardens, we polish the tooth for a more attractive appearance. The entire process takes one visit, and can help reshape malformed teeth repair chips and cracks, lengthen worn down teeth, close gaps between the teeth and even mask the permanent teeth stains that don’t respond well to teeth whitening.

Dental Contouring

Contouring takes a very different approach. We don’t add material to the tooth itself, instead we gently and carefully remove sections by sanding and buffing the tooth. Doing so helps use correct issues with overlapping teeth, remove minor damage, dull sharp or pointed teeth, and address teeth that appear too large. We can also remove issues with the surfaces, such as pits, grooves, or rough patches. We may perform this in the same visit as your bonding procedure, transforming your smile in a single sitting.

How Do I Get Started?

When you chip or crack a tooth, even if the damage appears minor, let us know. Sometimes even slight damage could be enough to expose sensitive inner tooth structure to bacteria, increasing the risk of tooth decay and infection. If you have esthetic issues with your smile such as discoloration, misshapen teeth, or other problems we discussed above, then schedule a consultation so we can examine your smile and find out if bonding or contouring is right for you.
