To ensure that each and every patient enjoys quality care custom-made for their smile, we employ advanced digital technology, from digital X-rays to 3D printing with the CEREC system. In today’s blog, your Kansas City, MO, dentist talks about the technology we use as part of your exam and treatment planning.

Digital X-Rays and Intraoral Cameras

Our use of advanced technology begins with your first visit! Our team will talk to you about your smile and your oral health habits. Next, we will take detailed pictures of your smile with digital X-rays and intraoral cameras. These X-rays use 90% less radiation and don’t need to be developed in chemicals. Instead, we have instant images chair side, which is more detailed and allows for a more accurate diagnosis. To take a close look at the sires of your smile, we use intraoral digital cameras, which take images quickly and comfortably. You receive a more accurate diagnosis, and we can offer treatment with greater precision!

Intraoral Scanning and 3D Printing

What if you need a dental crown, oral appliance, or even a new tooth? At one time, a metal mold would be filled with a sticky material. You could bite down and hold this bite for several minutes, often needing to repeat the process to gain an accurate impression of your smile. However, now we can use a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand to gather images of your smile from multiple angles. This scanning system then allows us to combine the images to create a 3D computer model, one far more accurate than the old-school method.

We then use this information to design a restoration or prosthetic, and with CEREC 3D printing, we craft the finished product in the same sitting. In fact, we then secure your crown in the same visit too, so you leave with a restored smile. The use of intraoral scanning and 3D printing means we craft lifelike dental restorations and place them in one visit, saving you time and money!
