The holiday celebrations are over, and the new year is in full swing. If you and your friends or family are looking for interesting things to do this weekend, Kansas City is full of fun events. Community Events

• The Ice at Park Place at 11565 Ash Street is Leawood’s only outdoor ice rink and it will stay open through February 19th. The rink is surrounded by seasonal festivities, warm food and drink options and unique holiday shopping. Enjoy special events like the Princess Skate and Valentine’s Day Skate. The Ice is also available for birthday parties and group events.
• This Saturday, the Jowler Creek Winery will host Sippin and Singin Live Indoor Music with live acoustic rock-and-roll by Nate Greybill of Mojo Saint. They will be selling wine and beer by the glass and bottle. Picnic pails with warm, fresh bread and cheeses and salamis will also be available for purchase. The admission is free and no reservations are required to join the fun.
• On Sunday, the Jowler Creek Winery will be hosting another event, Sangria Sunday. January is the only month where they will feature aspecial Winter Wonderland Sparkling Pomegranate and Blood Orange Sangria available in the tasting room by the glass and carafe.
• The Mummies of the World exhibit is still going on at Union Station. The collection, presented with reverence and dignity with interactive displays, includes ancient mummies and important artifacts from across the globe, including Ancient Egypt.
