We Offer Comfort With IV Sedation
Did you know that we’re one of the only general dental offices that offers IV sedation to patients and their families? With this anesthesia, we ensure you remain calm and relaxed, and enjoy your time in the office. In today’s blog, your Kansas City, MO, dentist will discuss how we offer comfort with IV dental sedation, and who makes an optimal candidate for this treatment option. After all, the comfort of our patients is paramount!
When You Need Sedation
We may suggest this for people undergoing more advanced and extensive treatments, such as dental implant placement, jawbone grafting, sinus lifts, or general extractions, such as the removal of the wisdom teeth. Our intravenous option also assists those undergoing multiple procedures at once, or for those with special needs or severe and severity that make undergoing treatment a difficult process. The procedure helps you enter a very deep state of calm and relaxation! We know many people fear the dentists, but we want you to know we take your concerns seriously, and want to ensure that you enjoy your experience in our office, and continue to take better care of your smile afterward.
Preparing Your for Treatment
To begin, we will need to take the procedures you’re undergoing into account, as well as your overall health and medical history. We also assess your anxiety levels too! We provide nitrous oxide and oral sedation, both forms of oral conscious sedation, too. With these options, you stay conscious but have little memory of the procedure itself. With IV, you enter a very deep state of calm, the deepest level possible, but will have no memory of the procedure itself.
The Procedure
We will work with a trained anesthesiologist who will be on hand and monitoring your vitals the entire time. The medication is sent directly into your bloodstream via an IV, and the effects are almost immediate. We monitor your sedation levels and vitals, and once the procedure ends, a friend or family member can bring you home. The effects take time to wear off completely, so you won’t be returning to work or school that day. Our detailed aftercare instructions will help facilitate the healing process, and will schedule a follow-up visit of course. If you have any questions about how we use this option to help those with anxiety or dental phobias, or of you would like to learn more and schedule a consultation, then please contact our team today to learn more.
