Wyandotte County Fair
The Wyandotte County Fair was founded 1863 and has been a longstanding tradition ever since. The fair moved around to different locations each year before finding a permanent home in 2011 in Kansas City. The fair comes around every year for about five days in mid-July. This year, the 2018 Wyandotte County Fair will run from June 10-14th, Tuesday through Saturday. The fair has always celebrated local farming and agriculture with 4-H exhibits, petting zoos, and livestock. There will also be concessions and local vendors with arts & crafts. More recent years have started to bring in events like mud runs and carnival rides, pig races, go-kart races, and other fun excitement. Live entertainment is always an important component to the Wyandotte County Fair. Garth Brooks performed at the Fair in 1990 before he went big, so who knows what famous artists of tomorrow you could see? Each of the five nights of the fair has a little something special going on:
Tuesday
The kick-off night of the fair is the only night with hot air balloon rides from 5pm until dusk. The rides will only happen if the weather is appropriate. The night is also a $15 wristband night, which means that all carnival rides will be covered with the price of a wristband.
Wednesday
Back Road Express will be the free live entertainment for the night. Wristbands will cost $25 on Wednesday through Saturday.
Thursday
Helicopter rides will be available Thursday through Saturday. Big Dave will be the free stage event for the night.
Friday
Friday is the only night with Go-Kart Races, which will begin at 7pm.
Saturday
Saturday’s featured event, Mud Boggers Mud Run, will happen at 7pm.
